Reading & Writing 3 provides academic and creative writing skills instruction and reading enrichment for seventh and eighth graders. Designed by accomplished writers and experienced English teachers, this course engages students with a variety of fun and foundational writing projects and develops students' passion for and critical skills in reading. Two landmark works of literature, I Am Malala, the nonfiction account of the life of Nobel Peace-Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, and that beloved, perennial classic of British literature, Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, offer a unique pairing of nonfiction and fiction, adding depth and breadth, inspiration and entertainment to students' reading experience. Middle school students can expect to level up their English-language skills, discover new avenues of creative expression, expand their reading horizons, and realize the power of language to enrich life.

Note: Copies of I Am Malala and Pride & Prejudice must be purchased separately.

  • This course includes 16 weeks of video lessons on reading and writing, presented by our experienced teachers. Students can watch video lessons multiple times at their convenience on our smart learning platform. Additionally, they are required to submit corresponding assignments on the platform to allow teachers to assess and understand their learning progress.
  • This course also includes 16 weeks of Live ZOOM classes, during which the teacher will address students' questions and provide clarification based on the assignments they have submitted. Additionally, the teacher will extract key points from the instructional videos of the week and present them in a concise manner.
  • Every week, the teacher provides detailed feedback and revision suggestions for each homework assignment. This is a valuable opportunity for children to receive writing guidance that is often hard to come by in school.
  • In addition to reading two celebrated novels, we will practice and learn more than five different types of writing.
